About Luciano’s Light

The woman is smiling gently and the baby, who has light red hair, is looking to the side. Our Story

On August 5, 2016, my husband and I welcomed our third son, Luciano, into the world. Born with a heart condition but with a good prognosis, Luciano was expected to undergo surgery several months after his birth. Tragically, sweet Luciano passed away just two weeks before his scheduled surgery. Though our time together was brief, we treasured every precious moment of the two months we were able to care for him.

As I found comfort in a community of grieving mothers—some who had suffered multiple losses—I began to understand the harrowing and heartbreaking journey that many couples face when trying to bring a healthy baby home. The path to parenthood after loss is filled with unique challenges, emotional hurdles, and often, overwhelming financial burdens.

When I heard about a friend who was fundraising to finance an adoption after losing two infants, inspiration struck. As a practicing family law attorney at Sasso Guerrero & Henderlite, who routinely handles adoptions and legal contracts for families going through fertility procedures, I realized I could make a meaningful difference in situations like these. I felt deeply called to help grieving families who long for a baby after child loss.

A Family’s Promise

Our souls ache for Luciano every single day. I can't give him a gift and throw him a lavish party to celebrate his learning to walk or see him smash cake in his face. But there is something I can do. He deserves a legacy.

That legacy is Luciano's Light, whose mission is to help loss parents bring home their Rainbow Babies. In 2023, Molly and Len welcomed their own rainbow baby, a testament to the hope that can emerge from even the deepest grief.

Luciano’s Legacy Lives On

On Luciano's first birthday, my colleague Christie Guerrero and I announced the creation of Luciano's Light—a charity dedicated to offering free and reduced-fee legal services to loss families seeking to adopt or have children through surrogacy or other fertility procedures.

In bereavement circles, a baby born after loss is lovingly referred to as a "Rainbow Baby"—a symbol of hope and beauty after the storm. Our logo reflects this beautiful metaphor, showing Luciano's Light cast through a prism to create a rainbow, representing the hope we help families find.

Today, Luciano's Light serves families throughout Florida and Georgia, providing compassionate legal support in adoption, surrogacy, and assisted reproductive technology to those who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child.

We understand that the journey to parenthood after loss is unlike any other, and we're honored to walk alongside families as they pursue their dreams of bringing home their rainbow babies.

Every family we serve carries Luciano's light forward, creating a legacy of love, hope, and new life that honors all the precious babies who have gone before.
